    »Comic Potential

    August 30, 2014 8:00 PM

In the near future of Tony winner Alan Ayckbourn's "Comic Potential", automation has become so pervasive that even soap opera actors have been replaced by robots. Still, there are two things that separate humans and artificial intelligences: a sense of humor and the ability to love -- until an apparent glitch in one of the robot actors causes it to laugh. Now the android and an idealistic young writer will redefine what it means to be human. Written by prolific British playwright Alan Ayckbourn ("Private Fears in Public Places"), "Comic Potential" was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award, a Drama Desk Award and a Laurence Olivier Award.
