Arts & Museums
City Art Gallery is a wonderful fine arts gallery that features a wide collection of works ranging from paintings to glass, ceramics and sculptures. It houses works of many local and national artists. The gallery is open to public visitations and plays host to many temporary exhibitions as well.
The Greenville Museum Of Art was founded in 1939 under the able leadership of Miss Alma Spargue who overlooked exhibitions, discussions and art events. More than 70 years later, this museum still functions as the city's pivotal resource for art which ensures that children can participate in most educational programs. Covering 10,000 square feet, facility rentals are possible for seminars and parties so check website for more details on those and ongoing exhibitions. Free admission!
Set in the refurbished Robersonville Primitive Baptist Church, St. James Place Museum houses an impressive collection of southern folk art. Quilts from North Carolina, duck decoys and pottery pieces are all part of the collection at the museum. Open by appointment throughout the year, St. James Place Museum is also available for tours.
