With humble origins in Georgia, Billy Currington left his home to pursue a professional music career in Nashville, and like so many before him, his first attempt at making it in the industry was unsuccessful. After retracting to work various day jobs, he eventually got his demo tapes into the right hands and landed a recording contract with Mercury Records in 2003. Later the same year, Currington dropped his eponymous debut album and has since become a well-respected character around Nashville.

Formed upon a chance pairing in class at Boston’s New England Conservatory, the four members of Lake Street Dive were assigned to form a group that played "free country" by the end of the class period; the teacher even provided them with the name Lake Street Dive. While the band members realized "free country" wasn't their strong suit, they also realized that there was an evident chemistry between them all and so they continued the band outside of class. After playing around with different musical styles, the band settled on a fusion between easy listening jazz and sweet indie pop. Since forming in 2006, Lake Street Dive has toured across the country and impressed audiences at every stop.

Pinback is a collaborative indie rock project between Rob Crow and Armistead Burwell Smith IV. The San Diego duo debuted in 1999 with its This Is a Pinback CD album, and caught the attention of Southern California audiences with its smart, concise songwriting. With a solid following in its home state, the band captured the respect of critics with the release of its 2001 record Blue Screen Life, which demonstrates the band's now trademark sound. Using tight, angular riffs, prominent bass, occasional hints of electronic production and layers upon layers of melody, Crow and Smith have honed an progressive indie/electronic sound. Pinback has released a slew of full-length albums and EPs, and continues to tour when Crow isn't busy with other projects, such as Goblin Cock and his own solo career.

Glass Animals is an alternative rock band from Oxford, England that released its debut EP, Leafings, in 2012. Comprised of four guys who've all known each other since they were 14 years old, the group manages to create a unique sonic aesthetic that's the direct by product of strong musical interplay. The group released its debut LP, Zaba, in 2014 and the album's intelligent blend of atmospherics, propulsive rhythms and unique instrumental arrangements helped distinguish the band as a group that's willing to take chances with its sound in order to achieve its artistic endgame.
