    October 25, 2014 10:00 PM

It's an unfortunate fact: the majority of electronic music producers are male. Because it would take a long time to pinpoint the exact reason for this sexual demographic discrepancy, it might just be easier to listen to the female electronic producers and enjoy the finely crafted beats that they've created. One of these electronically gifted sistas is the San Francisco based producer Ana Sia. While her music is nearly impossible to describe, by combining a plethora of genres like dubstep, drum & bass, trance, bass music and glitch, Sia is able to create some extremely pertinent sounds that resonate quite well with today's fervent electronic music audience.

    »Zz Top

    October 29, 2014 7:30 PM

The Texas-based blues rock outfit ZZ Top rose to prominence in the early 1970s with its dirty brand of southern rock and wailing guitar solos. After releasing its 1971 debut album, fittingly titled ZZ Top's First Album, the band established its raw, earthy sound and attitude with fuzzy guitars and rollicking rhythms. Each of the band's subsequent releases throughout the decade earned critical acclaim and a fair amount of radio play, proving that the three-piece band's Texas drawls and dirty jokes resonated with fans outside of the Lone Star State. ZZ Top continues to release its bluesy southern rock music and remains one of the most easily identifiable acts around with two of its three members sporting bushy, chest-length beards.

Brian Transeau (born Brian Wayne Transeau on October 4, 1971, in Rockville, Maryland) is a Grammy-award nominated producer who records under the stage name BT. Classically trained from the age of 13, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston for one year before dropping out and moving to Los Angeles, California, and then back to Washington, D.C. He was heavily influenced by avant-garde and romantic composers such as Stravinsky, Bartok, Debussy and Rachmaninov. His biggest influences, however, were from everyday sounds that most would take for granted, from noticing the meter of the grandfather clock in the foyer to the micro-rhythms of crickets and cicadas to the ambiance of passing trains at night.
