Competing teams enter the 9,200-square-foot, multi-level sports arena that's complete with crazy lighting, fog machines and secret passages. Each player carries a phaser to zap the enemy and wears a vest with sensors, identification lights and LED readout. This facility is a popular spot for birthday parties, other celebrations and corporate events. Participants can also enjoy Tron Racing, an outdoor attraction, featuring state-of-the art electric race cars and Cyber Sport, an interactive team game for up to 10 players, where players ride in custom-made cyber cars. Brighton Place is a place for books, literature, music and films. This place has over 800 DVD collections, 50 magazine titles and hundreds of children's collections. Be it science, history, fiction or philosophy, you will find it all here. There is also a book club that holds reading sessions and discussions on a regular basis. Other events include fund raising and summer programs for children. You can even curl up with a book at their café.
Amherst Main Library at Audubon serves to be a favorite library and recreation center for the people of Williamsville. This place has a large of book, magazines, CDs, DVDs, newspapers and reading material. Be it science, literature, history, philosophy, you will find it all here. This place also has many seminars, lectures, book exhibitions, book launches and so on. Many writers and literary have shared their experiences and ideas here. Thus this place is a center for information and education and goes beyond being just a library.
This path, which is located in suburban Buffalo behind the Amherst Police department, has recreational trails for hiking, walking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The 2.3-mile trail winds through the woods and along the shores of Walton Pond and Audubon Lake, which are home to native waterfowl. The woods that surround the lake comprise an old growth forest, which includes some 150-year-old trees. The trails are flat, making them perfect for novice cross-country skiers and snowshoers in the winter, and hikers and bikers in the summer. The Amherst Pepsi Center, a 182,000 square foot, two-story facility, is one of the largest recreational ice complexes in the country. The facility has four ice surfaces, which are used for recreational open skating, youth, adult and USA hockey, figure skating, and inline roller hockey. Located within the center is Performance Sports Training, an 8,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility, the premier sports training company in western New York. The center also has a pro shop, Front Row Sports, the largest supplier of sports equipment in the Niagara region. The 6,110 seated Alumni Arena at the University of Buffalo features a wide variety of sporting events, all within the comfort of an indoor stadium. Visitors be warned: expect high levels of uproarious student spirit, especially during pre-game rallies.
Adventure Landing is a fun amusement park catering to families and children. There is a miniature golf course with 18 holes and an arcade with over 60 games. There is also a Teddy Bear Factory where you can design your own stuffed animal. Adventure Landing also hosts birthday parties, with options such as Teddy Bear Party.
Home to Football Bulls, University Buffalo Stadium, can hold about 29000 spectators. Built in 1991, this stadium has witnessed several key football matches and has witnessed 1993 Closing World University Ceremonies. Basically holding American football and track and field matches, this stadium is huge and well-equipped.
Located in North Tonawanda between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, this is the only historic carousel factory in the nation. The museum opened in 1983 and is located within the original Allan Herschell Company factory, which began operating in 1916. A National Historic Site, the building is now divided into seven connected areas demonstrating such things as woodcarving, horse restoration, and two original carousels. The museum also sponsors programs including a summer Sunday series featuring youth theater, puppets, and magic. Check websites for varying dates.
This fab buffalo theater is home to a whole bunch of events. In its previous incarnation, the New Melody Theater hosted the Kinks! Expect to see the only the most popular and spectacular bands to pass through this stage.
Suny Buffalo is the State University of New York in Buffalo. It doesn't stick to academics alone, but branches out into a variety of other fields. It is truly a dynamic campus and has many events and programs for students as well as for guests. It hosts dance recitals, and summer arts programs. There are celebrity performances held here too that draw record crowd.
A part of the Amherst Central School District, the Amherst Middle School forwards its aim of helping the children reach their highest potential, academic and otherwise. In order to achieve this aim, the school has extensive curricular programs and also has excellent facilities, including state-of-the-art equipment.
