This museum takes up three buildings and offers displays on 1,000 dolls from the arly 1880's to the present. The museum also has operating model trains and a garden railroad with a picnic area.
Formerly constructed as a meeting hall, the Monroe County Museum is a Classic Revival structure and is historically named as the Sparta Masonic Temple. Included in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, this museum is dedicated to the rich historical heritage of the county.
An effigy of astronaut Deke Slayton greets visitors to his memorial museum. Established in 1999, the Deke Slayton Memorial Space & Bicycle Museum was founded in honor of this home hero. It houses an exhibition showcasing the trajectory of transportation - from bicycles to aviation to space travel. The collection features over 80 vintage bicycles, a spacesuit and several outer space-related models and artifacts.
