Ride through an authentic 1800
Open to the public year round, the Youth Museum of Southern West Virginia features a main gallery made up of four railroad boxcars, a central exhibit area which features an average of three different yearly exhibits, a planetarium, the Mountain Homestead, a log cabin, barn, schoolhouse, moonshine still, blacksmith shop, and a country store.
Located in the Historical District of Lewisburg, museum houses the collections of the Greenbrier Historical Society and features decorative arts and antiques, textiles, Civil War items, archaeological artifacts, and historic vehicles.
Museum filled with uniforms, artifacts from the early days of the C&O Railway. Model train exhibit, tools used during the time of John Henry, the Steel Drivin' Man.
Re-visit the past with a tour to this historic museum filled with reminders of days gone by, from the hickory stick to the pot-bellied stove, antique desks, and book collections.
The West Virginia State Museum like all other museums seeks to disseminate, collect, preserve, nourish and exhibit artifacts, and it has done just that with great gusto this far! Touching upon almost all aspects of the lives of West Virginia's folks over the ages, expect to encounter some great displays related to history, paleontology, archaeology, art and geology. A wonderful time is guaranteed at this classy museum.
The West Virginia Cultural Center showcases West Virginia's artistic, cultural and historic heritage. The Cultural Center houses the offices of the Commission on the Arts, the State Historic Preservation Office, State Museum, State Archives, and other administrative staff. The Cultural Center is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday noon to 6:00 p.m. The Archives and History Library is closed on Sunday.
Explore two floors of interactive science exhibits that are sure to entertain the whole family while at this science museum. Heritage Towers "provides a series of exhibits, lectures, concerts, cultural celebrations, festivals and programs designed to preserve the past and strengthen the future." Heritage Towers is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Located in the Greenbrier Resort, this gallery features the work of seven different area artists.
