The stunning Gauley River National Recreation Area features a 25 mile long river along with a 5.5 mile Meadows River. This beauty of nature is a perfect place to be at while a break from the tiring daily routine. The greenery around with the freshness of the flowing water in the river makes one feel vibrant. Comprising of a Summersville Dam, which is the only part that is accessible through road way, one can get access to the remaining site via river.
Located at the 370-acre (150 hectare) Hawks Nest State Park, River Nature Center offers children an interactive learning experience where they can learn all about the life forms in the New River Area in a manner that is as engaging as it is informative. Apart from observing displays, visitors can also interact with the nature center's in-house naturalist. The gift center is also nature-themed.
