Arts & Museums

»Museum of Coastal Carolina

This museum, run in conjunction with the Ingram Planetarium, is over the border from Myrtle Beach, but worth the trip if you enjoy natural history and science. It features exhibits on Atlantic coastal sea life like sharks, insects and snakes as well as informative ones like tide flows and the peril of litter on beaches. Each exhibit has a different theme, with names like Sea Shore, Ocean Reef, Barrier Island and Coastal Plain, that represent their ecology, respectively. For more information on events and collections, contact the museum or check website for calendar.

»Ingram Planetarium

The Ingram Planetarium is located north of the border in North Carolina (Sunset Beach to be exact), however if you absolutely need to visit a science museum while in the Myrtle Beach area, Ingram is one of the best. Some of the exhibits include the Planetarium of course, the Sky Theater and the Paul Dennis Science Hall which contains an augmented reality room. During the summer, the planetarium hosts programs every day of the week, 'To the Moon Thursdays' and the 'Size of Space' on Fridays are just a couple of examples. For more information on other events like laser music shows, check out the website for calendar.
