Named after an influential surveyor Charles Beggs, Charlestown was founded in 1808 and strangely enough responsible for the collapse of a nearby town Springville. As of now, Charlestown is a vibrant city which welcomes people of all backgrounds to partake in the festive celebrations and national holidays such as July 4th, Christmas and New Years when the main square is abuzz with activity. The Friendship community is a part of the Brown Township. Alexander Buchanan arrived here in 1835 from Kentucky's Harrodsburg and set up a town, naming it New Jane after his beloved wife. The Vinegar Hill Historic District or the Vinegar Hill Limestone Historic District is a part of the Indiana state. Given its name, this area developed when the limestone industry in Indiana was booming. »Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center

Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center is located in downtown Bloomington. Spread across 24,000 square feet (2229.67 square meters), it was initially built as Graham Motor Sales in 1923. Afterwards it was taken over by the Ford organization and was their assembly plant and showroom. It took over its current role in 1991 and has continued to be one of the focal places in the community. In 2012, the center was renovated to give it a more contemporary look. Its walls are adorned with impressive artworks by local artists and visitors are welcome to stop by to admire them. The facility is also used for trade shows, receptions, weddings and corporate functions.
