»Kexp Recommends: Two Gallants W/ Will Sprott

April 18, 2015 9:00 PM

The folk rock duo Two Gallants is composed of guitarist Adam Stephens and drummer Tyson Vogel. After forming in 2002 the pair began constructing its cathartic, stripped-down sound forged by its the shared experience of growing up together in San Francisco. Two Gallants has developed a widespread but intimate following with its emotional, visceral, intelligent sound that encompasses America’s folk, country and blues traditions, while being fueled with the energy of punk. Through two-part harmonies and first-person narratives, murder ballads and drunken outlaw tales, Two Gallants has tapped into the universal struggle of the human condition as they channel the pain and wisdom of men twice their age.

His combination of folk, punk and shanties make his performances enlightening and entertaining. Webley plays the accordion like there's no tomorrow and always gets the crowd with his sheepish smile gypsy sound.
