St. George would have remained yet another obscure town in South Carolina, had a grocery shop owner John Walters not realized that his town consumes the highest amount of grits in the world! The result was the World Grits Festival that takes place each spring, drawing over 30,000 inter-state visitors. This town also boasts a number of antique shops, traditional pubs, leafy avenues, opportunities to swim, hike and get onto adventure trails, and a relaxed vibe that is comparable to none.
The Trinity Methodist Church, founded in 1848 is an old church that stands for oneness with God and humanity. It showcases Gothic architecture and is also known for working with the African-American community. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
