    »Cloud Cult

    September 15, 2014 8:00 PM

Conceived in the mid 1990s by Earthology Records founder and environmental activist Craig Minowa, Cloud Cult is a Minnesota-based experimental indie rock band that deftly interweaves disparate instrumentation with Minowa's plaintive tenor to create music that's complex and cerebral, yet simultaneously effortlessly elegant. The band is famous for regularly having an artist paint a picture onstage during the show and auctioning the work off to a member of the audience immediately following the performance.

    »Park Silly Sunday Market

    September 15, 2014 10:00 AM

Every Sunday during the summer (usually from June through September), Park City's historic Main Street is crowded with colorful vendors, selling everything from food to antiques. The market promotes sustainability "green" issues, nonprofit groups, and local artists. Free kids activities, as well as free music and entertainment make Main Street the place to be. A word of advice: bring lots of cash, as most vendors don't accept credit cards. There are a number of ATMs located along Main Street for your convenience. Paid parking is available on Main Street, and free parking lots can be found on Swede Alley. The Park Silly Sunday Market takes place from 10a-4p, come rain or shine. Check the website for further details.

    »Mother Falcon

    September 16, 2014 7:00 PM

Mother Falcon is an indie pop-minded classical music collective based out of Austin, Texas. Using multiple cellos and violins, acoustic bass, mandolin, horns, guitar and percussion, the group creates pop song-structured compositions that really utilize the space and characteristics of every instrument being played. This isn't a half-baked band looking to gain credibility by using a classical instrument now and then. Rather, Mother Falcon is made-up entirely of well-trained musicians capable of tastefully adding to the band's songs with a sense of professional grace and restraint. Modern indie music is also a heavy influence on Mother Falcon, well evidenced in the group's use of vocals and grandiose arrangements. Fans of like-minded contemporaries such as Owen Pallet and Beirut will appreciate the band's modern twist on classical music.

Volbeat is a band from Copenhagen, Denmark. The band combines heavy metal, rockabilly, and groove metal to create its trademark sound. Often Volbeat's music is referred to as "Elvismetal" since the singer's voice resembles that of the King of Rock'n'Roll’s. The band was founded in October 2001 by singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen in an effort to discover new musical ground beyond death metal. Volbeat's debut The Strength / The Sound / The Songs was released in 2005.

    »Christopher Willits

    September 17, 2014 8:00 PM

Christopher Willits has always been an artist. From a young age he'd feel pulled towards artistic expression, eventually studying visual arts at the Kansas City Art Institute--where he'd train in painting, sculpture, photography and film/video/new media. However, after deciding to pursue a musical path, Willits would move to the San Francisco Bay Area and enroll at Mills College, ultimately completing a masters degree in electronic music, learning generative music synthesis and avant-garde composition. Since graduating, Willits has led a prolific career as an experimental electronic artist who blends physical instrumentation, typically with a guitar, with computer generated sounds to create richly diverse sonic landscapes that oftentimes blend ambient noises with dense melodic arrangements. Though Willits has predominantly self-released his material, the seminal electronic label Ghostly International has also distributed some of his work, probably most notably with his 2006 album, Surf Boundaries.
