Cabinet is a bluegrass/Americana act from Scranton, Pennsylvania that claims that their music can be described with three essential bywords: soul, simplicity and serious musicianship. Indeed, the band does take its bluegrass quite seriously, and the resulting music shows that Cabinet's six members exude a genuine love for the genre with its soaring harmonies and fast moving rhythms. Since forming in 2006, Cabinet has recently begun to make a name for itself on the national stage, leading many to proclaim the Scranton band to be one of the country's most promising up-and-coming bluegrass acts.

Conceived in 2010 by various musicians formerly involved in shoegaze and grindcore bands, Deafheaven shifted its sound into territory the musicians hadn't forayed into: black metal, post-rock and screamo. While the San Francisco-based band didn't initially intend to release its music, it eventually submitted a demo to a few blogs and was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Since then the five-piece has signed to Deathwish Inc. and has begun touring its music around the US, playing at various festivals and consistently winning over audiences.

    »She Keeps Bees

    September 24, 2014 8:00 PM

She Keeps Bees is a New York-based and blues-inspired indie rock duo that was formed in 2006. The twosome recorded its first album in a bedroom, but the slightly sub-par production value manages to work to She Keeps Bees' advantage, as the DIY attitude of the band shines through in the music. The group's live shows highlight both musicians' knack for performing in front of audiences, and as the band continues to tour and release interesting recordings, its notoriety will undoubtedly continue to grow.

The jam band moe. has attracted a wide fan base (mainly on the East Coast) with experimental guitar excursions, oftentimes wacky lyrics and a penchant for attracting a party friendly crowd. The group's music often falls in the straightforward "rock" category, but the band also experiments with more modern influences; as well as old-timey folk and country traditions. The group found a perfect home for itself during the 1990s jam haze with other acts like Phish, Widespread Panic and The String Cheese Incident.
