»The Whales Of August

April 19, 2015 3:00 PM

Two sisters in the autumn of their lives reflect on their past in "The Whales of August" by Obie Award-winning playwright David Berry. At a beach house on an island off Maine where they spent time as children, sisters Libby and Sarah -- both widows -- try to reconnect after a lifetime of jealousy and misunderstandings kept them apart. Into the mix comes a charming Russian émigré. In need of a place to stay, the man works his wiles on the still impressionable Sarah, much to the chagrin of Libby. This touching drama about living life to the fullest was made into a movie in 1987 starring Bette Davis and Lillian Gish. Now it comes to the stage of the Sharonville Fine Arts Center in this TriCounty Players production.
