The department production season typically consists of three faculty-directed plays and one faculty-choreographed dance concert in Johnson Theatre, three or four student directed plays in the Studio Theatre, the student-directed Winthrop One-Act Play Festival each semester, and the student-choreographed Winthrop Choreography Showcase and Senior Dance Showcase.

To call the Winthrop Coliseum a multi-purpose facility would be quite an understatement. This excellent arena is one of the prominent facilities offered by the university, and is also one of the prominent venues in the city. Opened in 1982, the Winthrop Coliseum has since been hosting major athletic and entertainment events. The Red Rose Sculpture Competition and Exhibition will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 17th, at Red Rose Park. A partnership of Avant Garde Center for the Arts and Olde English District Visitor Center and Artist Market, the exhibit will feature works by sculptors from throughout the southeast and will be held during the fifth annual Red Rose Festival.
Christina Chastain, artist and owner of Chastain's Studio Lofts, will be holding children's art classes for kids ages 5-12 beginning Friday, September 7, 2012, from 6-9 p.m. at her downtown studio. These classes will be offered every other Friday evening throughout the school year. Each class will start and finish a new project, ranging from canvas art to pottery.
Dixie Bee Supply will open their doors to the public on June 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on June 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. to showcase beekeeping equipment and supplies, display an observation hive and conduct a discussion on the importance of honey bees.
