Royal Canoe is an indie rock band from Canada that was formed in 2009 by Winnipeg-based musician Matt Peters, who had been slowly building a repertoire of songs since he began experimenting with songwriting in 2006. His backing band, made up of several of his long-time friends, helped transform his songs into more robust compositions, particularly during live shows when Peters is often joined by a two-drummer rhythm section. Royal Canoe released its debut album Co-Op Mode, in 2010.

American country music singer, Brad Paisley, is a front-runner for modern country music. Known to frequently reference pop culture in his songs, his satirical nature adds extra flair to his country rock songs. Paisley's energy translates well into his live performances in particular; he's always got his crowd dancing on their feet to the slight twangy, pop sounds of his country music.

Alyssa Reid is a pop singer from Alberta who rose to fame after her cover of a Justin Bieber song went viral on Youtube. She released her debut single "Alone Again" in 2010, and became Billboard's number one Canadian Emerging Artist for a record breaking 33 weeks straight in 2011. Reid dropped her first full-length effort The Game, in 2011 before embarking on her first trip and first tour of the UK.

With a well noted sound that's well rooted in 1970s rock, soul and funk, The Doobie Brothers have managed to be remembered as one of the premier acts of its generation. Active from 1970 to 1982 before reuniting in 1987, the band released its self-titled debut album in 1971 and has since released over a dozen studio albums. Though The Doobie Brothers has experienced a number of line-up changes over the years, the group still tours and has maintained a reputation for putting on an impressive live show despite the departure of vocalist Michael McDonald.

San Francisco-based outfit Castle is a doom metal band that formed in 2009. Fronted by female vocalist Elizabeth Blackwell, the band released its 2011 debut album, In Witch Order, and captured the metal scene's attention with its seamless fusion of doom and death metal. The record reached beyond the US and into European audiences, particularly after it was named album of the year by one of Norway's leading metal magazines, Metal Hammer Norway. Castle dropped its follow-up record, Blacklands, in 2012.

Toronto-based band The Trews has been a fixture of Canadian rock music since the early 2000s, coming onto the scene with their album House of III Fame. The group has been nominated for numerous Juno Awards, Canada's most prestigious music awards ceremony. The Trews have also seen a considerable amount of success in the US, winning the Independent Music Award for Best Hard Rock Song in 2008 with "Hold Me In Your Arms."

Theory of a Deadman is a Canadian alternative rock band from Vancouver. The band released its self-titled debut in 2002 on 604 Records, which is run by Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. The band's success went international after songs off its second album were used in the computer game Fahrenheit, as well as the on soundtrack of the movie Transformers, a few years later.
