»Carbon County Museum

The Carbon County Museum is a free museum talking in detail about the local history through several permanent and temporary exhibits. Home on the Range, the Original Wyoming State Flag, the artifacts and household items of native Americans, original photographs of George Parrot, Dr. Lillian Heath and Dr. John Eugene Osborne, and pictures of the Pioneers on the Trail, all form the permanent exhibits of this museum. But of all their displays, the infamous shoes made out of human skin is their most popular exhibit!

»Wyoming Frontier Prison Museum

Giving an account of the rather notorious history of its inmates, the Wyoming Frontier Prison Museum is one of Rawlins must-visit places. The prison is an attraction in itself, and knowledgeable guides make the tours quite interesting for you. The tours of the prison includes visits to the gallows, gas chambers, prison cells and the socializing areas of the culprits who were brought here and the guides give you a detailed picture of their destiny. Several executions were carried out at this prison and legend has it that some cells still engulf you in the tension that the prisoners witnessed. This prison has been at the center of attention of many paranormal researchers, but that does not stop enthusiastic visitors from exploring this piece of Rawlins' history. The museum carries permanent exhibits and some of them are known to leave visitors flabbergasted.
