Located off Vermont's mainland, this state park encompasses the entire Burton Island. Spread over 253 acres (102.38 hectares), Burton Island State Park is a lush green space nestled amidst the pristine blue waters of Saint Albans Bay. The park opened to the public in 1964. Burton Island State Park features hiking trails, and is a great spot for fishing, rowing or swimming. Various picnic tables and tent sites are offered here. Access to the park is only by boat, and it operates only from May to September; call ahead before visiting.
The Ethan Allen Park is situated in the city of Burlington in Vermont. The trail stretches for a distance of approximately four miles (6437.38 meters). As you make your way to the top of the mountain, be mesmerized by amazing views of the lake Champlain. Walk along the winding trails and enjoy the pleasant woodlands.
Picturesquely located close to the beach, the Oakledge Park is a beautiful expanse. Relax, enjoy a swim, take out your bike or set up a barbecue- this place has lots to offer! Get away from the busy city life and spend some quality time with family or friends.
About a half-hour south of the city, just north of the US border, you will find, of all things, a park full of giraffes, elephants, leopards and other African transplants. Take your own car through the park or save your chrome and aerial from mischievous primates by riding in one of the park's buses. If the cheetahs leave the kids wanting more, take advantage of the elephant rides, a water park, mini golf and interactive games. This is a great family excursion.
