Popularly known as the 102 years old grist mill, the Jessup's Mill is a historic mill that lies over 7 acres (2.8 hectares) of land. Standing still and strong at the banks of the Dan River, the site features several recreational activities conducted. From camping to fishing, the site has a lot to offer. The most interesting and best enjoyed activity here is tubing at the beautiful stretch of the River Dan. Floating on a calm river with the beautiful greenery around is just a perfect way to take a day's break from the daily routine.
The Hanging Rock State Park is a state park in North Carolina, notable for its monadnock cliff formations. The Pilot Mountain in the park looks very isolated and makes for some striking scenery. The steep rock face of the mountains also gives rise to a number of waterfalls, presenting one with swimming and fishing opportunities. Visitors can also rent cabins at the park is they choose to spend the night.
Mountain bikers will enjoy the four mile trail at this park that is technically challenging and somewhat strenuous and features steep climbs and descents, as well as log and creek crossings. The course is divided into two sections for the beginner or the advanced biker.
Open year round, this 18 hole, par 71 public course offers a challenge to golfers of all skill levels because of its rolling terrain.
Built in 1972, this beautiful 18 hole, par 72 semi-public golf course is located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and features plush Bermuda fairways and bent grass greens.
This nine hole, par 36 public golf course was built in 1957 and has a very challenging design. The course is open year round and has small greens.
Moratock Park is a historic public park. A highlight is the iron furnace built during the Civil War that was used to prepare iron bars on the banks of the Dan River. This park consists of beautiful views of the river, a shelter to spend a day, and restrooms are available too. The river is open for sailing and rafting. In addition, this site is a perfect venue for meetings and events as well as receptions.
