The San Marcos De Apalache Historic State Park is a picturesque state park site and is highly significant. The monumental site is located at Wakulla County in Florida and is designated as a Florida State Park. It provides for an array of activities such as fishing, bird watching, adventurous hiking and nature trailing and manages to enthrall the visitor. It is a fine site for picnicking and offers wildlife viewing opportunities. It also stands registered in the National Register of Historic Places.
Festivals and live entertainment events take place year round at this park, showcasing some of the major names in the music industry. It is home to the very popular annual "Suwannee River Jam". In addition to great concerts and a music pavilion, there are picnic pavilions throughout the park as well as swimming, camping, canoeing, horseback riding, biking, skating and hiking. Located 80-minutes from Jacksonville, east on I-10 to the Live Oak exit.
Located two hours outside Panama City, this gorgeous park is well worth the drive. Experience Florida's flora and fauna, such as the Wakulla Springs' turtles, deer, alligators, and birds. Glide down the parks waterways on daily guided riverboat tours, or maybe a glass bottom boat tour on days when the water is clear. In the summertime, get a break from the scorching Florida heat with nice cool swim. Special to this park is the Wakulla Springs Lodge, built in 1937, that invites you to eat it its year-round dining room, stay the night in one if its guest rooms, or perhaps use one of its large facilities for a retreat.
