Located adjacent to the Talladega Superspeedway, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame is one of the most popular and impressive facilities of its kind in the country. Although Talladega is known primarily as a stop on the NASCAR circuit, this museum (true to its name) is concerned with motorsports of all kinds, from Grand Prix to snowmobile racing, and everything in between. The collections, reported to be worth $25 million, include famous automobiles, boats, and motorcycles from the past and present. The museum is open every day except major holidays. Pete Mathews Coliseum in scenic Jacksonville is a 5,300 seat sports arena. The Coliseum opened in 1974, houses an indoor swimming pool, jogging tracks and a full locker facility. The sports arena is home to the Jacksonville State University basketball and volleyball teams. The arena has hosted various concerts of many famous artists including Billy Joel and Alabama.
