Arts & Museums
Housed within the Pickard Hall building at the University of Missouri, the Museum of Art and Archaeology is primarily an art museum. With a varied range of artifacts and pieces of art on display, the museum gives its visitors an insight into the local history. The museum was established in 1957 by Professor John Pickard, the first head of the Department of Art History and Archaeology at the University of Missouri. Initiated as a study collection in the department, the museum was moved to its current location in 1976, making it a full-fledged visitor's gallery. Oil copies of paintings, plaster casts of sculptures, photographs and other such collectibles are the essence of this place.
The National Churchill Museum is nestled within the sprawling campus of Westminster College. As the name suggests, this museum is dedicated to Sir Winston Churchill.
