    »David Nail

    September 01, 2014 7:30 PM

Born and raised in Missouri, David Nail was presented with several offers to play baseball in college but chose to turn them down in the hopes of pursuing a music career. He moved to Nashville to explore his love of county music and was signed to MCA Nashville in 2002, when he released his self-titled debut album. Nail's music is very reflective of contemporary country styles, with lap-steel acoustic ballads as well as more uptempo, rock and roll-influenced tracks populating his albums. On his 2007 album, I'm About to Come Alive, Nail branched out to work some big names in the country music world, including Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts.

»Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Washington Nationals

    September 01, 2014 5:10 PM

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a Major League Baseball team and a member of the National League West Division. The franchise was established in Brooklyn in 1883. The team had several names over the first 50 years, until finally adopting the name "Dodgers" in 1932. The Dodgers made baseball history in 1947 when owner Branch Rickey signed Jackie Robinson to a contract. Robinson became the first African-American baseball player in Major League Baseball. He won the Rookie of the Year award that same year. Before the 1958 season, the Dodgers moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. That same year, the Giants also moved from New York to California. Bitter rivals in New York, the two franchises remain hated opponents today. Some of the best players in Dodgers history include Sandy Koufax, Jackie Robinson, Don Drysdale and Duke Snider.

    »Richard III

    September 01, 2014 8:00 PM

Richard III is a play by William Shakespeare about the rise and fall of the 15th Century English King Richard III, and is considered to be the Bard's greatest historical play if not one of his greatest plays altogether. The play is second only to Hamlet as the longest work in the Shakespearean canon and is the concluding play to his "War of the Roses" cycle which covers the histories of the five English kings who reigned during this major turning point in British history. The play begins on the heels of the conclusion of Shakespeare's Henry VI trilogy and details the Machiavellian rise and reign of King Richard III, whose murder of King Henry VI secured his place as England's new king, albeit briefly. The role of Richard III is considered to be one of the most distinguished roles for Shakespearean actors, and many see a successful performance of the role as being an affirmation of an actor's skill and range. The play is also the source for many of the world's mostrenowned Shakespearean quotes and monologues, such as "Now is the winter of our discontent," and "A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!"
