The Truckstop Café may have graduated to Café Routier, but continues to have Chef Jeffrey Renkl serve authentic French food at reasonable prices. The stylish décor and comfort menu make for the ideal meal after a hard day's work. Try the Pan Roasted Duck Breast served with grilled peaches, blueberries, lemon-chive cous-cous, and blueberry-balsamic gastric. Take your pick from an exquisite list of wines and martinis. To appease that chocolate craving, there's Chocolate Pudding and Espresso and Whiskey Granita topped with white chocolate whipped cream! The cafe opens daily at 5:30p.
When you head outside the city, the prices always drop. Jack Rabbit's in Old Saybrook is just the place where you can get a gourmet burger for well under USD10 or a gourmet hot dog for under USD5. The menu includes plenty of your snacking favorites such as wings, sweet potato fries, onion rings, sliders and more. After hours, the place turns The Rabbit Hole, a jumping nightspot with a jukebox where you can get all of your favorite foods directly at the bar.
Located on the Singing Bridge in Westbrook, Bill's has been packing in the foodies - as evident from the crammed parking lot of weekend nights in the summer and the umbrellas lining the outdoor patio overlooking the Patchogue River. Fix your fix of steamed lobster, lobster rolls, fried seafood platters and more at this local favorite on historic Route 1, or arrive on your boat and dock beneath the outdoor patio. After dinner, enjoy Ashley's Ice Cream from their stand on the premise. At Christmastime the waterfront is decorated with Christmas figures and colored lights. Lenny & Joe's Fish Tale in Madison has been delighting customers since 1979 with mounds of fresh scallops, scrod, shrimp, clams, crabs and lobster. This casual restaurant is great for people of all ages and is particularly child friendly with the outdoor ice cream stand and carousel (all proceeds go to local charities). Fish Tale is packed every night during the summer as it's not far from Hammonasset State Park, not to mention even packing customers in on weekends in the winter. Go to the counter, order and pay, find yourself a table, pick up your tray and enjoy some of the best local seafood. There is also a lobster stand open daily in summer and on weekends in the winter months. Don't forget to pick up a t-shirt (they change yearly) for only $6 that tells everyone you ate there as well as making a fashion statement. There is also the sit-down restaurant Lenny & Joe's in Westbrook, just five miles up the road.
Lenny's on the Beach in Old Lyme is a seasonal beachfront bar that caters to the many visitors of Old Lyme's public beaches. Open from April through September, Lenny's offers live music, frozen drinks and complete beach access every day of the week. On Saturdays in summer, come in early for a breakfast that can't be beat on their outdoor patio overlooking Long Island Sound.

Fairly new to the shoreline area, Zhang's already has a remarkable following making it one of the hottest restaurants in the Madison and Guilford area, especially on the weekends. There is an abundance of delicious, beautifully prepared Chinese delicacies like the Jumbo Shrimp with Walnut, replete with a white Marnier sauce, and Crispy Orange Beef. Japanese specialties like Donburi, Udon and sushi to die for are all served by a friendly wait staff.
