The year 1858 marked the initial construction of the historic Fenwick Island Lighthouse. It is an eminent lighthouse located in Delaware across the border of Maryland. The conical shaped arrangement is predominantly a brick structure. Post its closure in 1978, there were protests to have it restored. Tourists can visit the small museum and gift shop although one is not permitted to climb the lighthouse. It towers high at 84 feet (26 meters) and possesses third order Fresnel lens. Covering an area of 218 acres (88 hectares), the historic lighthouse has also been added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

As you walk down the boardwalk you'll find a lot of eateries and attractions, including Trimper's Carousel, the oldest continoously running carousel in the country!
