With a style based around dusty vinyl samples of old soul and jazz records, the vintage-minded DJ has struck a chord with fans of old school hip-hop free of the trappings of many modern genre trends. His early collaborations with rapper, Charizma, paved the way his continued partnerships with various emcees throughout his career. Peanut Butter Wolf founded and runs the highly successful record label, Stones Throw, which has released notable hip-hop albums from the likes of Madlib, Quasimoto, Jaylib and Breakestra.

The Beach Boys are primarily known for their impressive vocal harmonies and a knack for writing catchy, pop friendly songs. The band is also widely regarded to be one of the most important bands to emerge from the 60s and it has gone down as one of the most influential bands in history. While the members have since had their differences and tour without Brian Wilson, the front man that most credit as the crucial and most talented member of the Beach Boys, they do still perform songs that rouse nostalgia in the audience.

    September 08, 2014 8:30 PM

Clipping. is an experimental hip-hop trio from Los Angeles that uses snippets of harsh noise in place of beats. Capturing cold, threatening vibrations in moments of both abrasive and subtle sound clippings, the group is fronted by Daveed Diggs, who somehow injects his own rhythms into the otherwise manic flow of each track. Clipping. released its debut album, midcity, in 2013 and subsequently captured an international audience with its curious, progressive sound.

    »Bob Weir & Ratdog - Cancelled

    September 10, 2014 6:30 PM

Widely known as a founding member of Grateful Dead, Bob Weir is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from San Francisco who pioneered his own style of complex voiceleading that gave unusual depth to the role of rhythm guitar. After Grateful Dead formed in 1965, he spent the next 30 years doing his part in developing the band's signature sound. When the group officially broke up in 1995 after the death of front man Jerry Garcia, Weir formed The Other Ones with his ex-band mates Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart, who released one album, 1999's The Strange Remain, before changing their project's name to The Dead. Apart from his work with Grateful Dead members, Weir founded and played in several different other projects including Kingfish, Bobby and the Midnites and Scaring the Children. He once again joined his longtime collaborator Lesh to form Further in 2009, and brought the jam band on the road to perform songs from the extensive Grateful Dead songbook as well as its own compositions.
