This island has seen a lot of history;  the island is home to numerous wildlife species. The island offers fishing, camping and bird-watching. One warning, when walking through the island's raspberry bushes and grape vines, keep an eye out for poison ivy. Camping permits are mandatory and can be obtained at the Niagara Parks Police Office.

Formerly Niagara Falls High School, is home to over 60 visual and performing artist's studios. Artists include craftsmen, painters, musicians, dancers, and photographers. The center also has two art galleries and two theaters. This art center is one of the largest gatherings of artists under one roof outside of New York City. The 1924 Classic Revival-style building was slated for demolition in 2000 when the school relocated. Fortunately, the group Save our Sites in Niagara Falls saved the building, which is now listed on the state and national historic registers.

With four tennis courts, eight baseball diamonds, a basketball court and a softball complex, it is no wonder this is the most popular park in Niagara County. As the name indicates, it overlooks the Robert Moses Plant Reservoir where there are plenty of fish biting. »Aquarium of Niagara

Known as Niagara's "Other Water Wonder", this aquarium presents an ongoing display of fish and aquatic life from the Great Lakes to the Coral Reef. There are almost 2,000 species ranging from sharks and California sea lions to Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. Originally known as the "First Inland Oceanarium" when it opened 30 years ago, the aquarium has grown to over 50 exhibits. Visitors stop to watch the marine demonstrations at 90-minute intervals.

Designed by Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo in 1913 and opened in 1916, Whirlpool Aero Car offers a fantastic view of Niagara's Whirlpool, the Gorge, and the Falls about a few miles to the south of the Falls. The round trip, in a suspended 40-passenger car held by six steel cables, is about a kilometer and takes ten minutes. The car is regularly modernized with the latest updates to avoid hazardous circumstances.

»Cham Shan Temple- Ten Thousand

This seven level Chinese temple, the name means "ten thousand Buddhas," has an extensive collection of Buddhist art and artifacts. Located on one hectare (three acres) just north of the very congested falls tourist area, the temple offers a peaceful oasis to tourists. It is also a place of worship for members of the Buddhist religion; services are offered in the morning and afternoon. Visitors are reminded to remember that it is a place of worship and to treat it with respect. The grounds of the temple include a Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara statue as well as a bronze Buddha statue. A gift shop features Buddhist arts and crafts.
