»Herrick Chapel

The Herrick Chapel is a church nestled in the sprawling campus of Grinnell College. Incidentally, it is designed by William H. Brainerd (who graduated from Grinnell College) and is named after Stephen Leonard Herrick, trustee of this institution. The church's interiors are interesting and appealing with its stained glass windows and Gothic style of architecture. Another remarkable feature of Herrick Chapel is its perfect acoustic system and an organ that has 4,000 pipes and 66 ranks. Owing to this, concerts and choir programs are held here on a regular basis. It also has a marble plaque that bears the names of all those brave Grinnell students who were a part of the Union Army and died during the Civil War. For more details, call ahead.
