Chicago Style Gyros is a family-owned business serving up delicious and affordable Greek food in a clean, casual environment. The setting might be a former fast food joint, but the food is not your ordinary fast food fare. The house specialty, gyros, includes beef and lamb, and can be ordered thinly sliced in a sandwich or on a platter with salad, rice and pita. Other entrees such as chicken or falafel are also available. The hummus and the cranberry spiced iced tea are definitely worth trying. If you want the fresh cucumber dressing, be sure to tell the server before he reaches for the bottled ranch. - Lynn-nore Chittom
Forget about fast food chicken sandwiches that claim to be spicy, this is the real thing. Four levels of heat are available—mild, which is frightfully spicy in its own right; medium, which will make you grimace in painful bliss; hot, which is seriously life threatening; extra hot—don't try this unless you have medical personnel nearby. Sandwiches are served with pickle spears and beans or slaw. Vending machines provide carbonated refreshment.
After many years, folks in Nashville still choose this popular Mexican eatery over any other. Why? Maybe it's because the Es Fernandos Mexican's menu boasts over 100 items. Maybe it's because the average price of an entree is less than other restaurants. Or maybe it's just, because it offers the best Mexican food in the city. Diners who want their meal in a hurry will appreciate the drive-thru window, and families will appreciate the great value.

Checkers, a drive-thru restaurant serves the biggest, tastiest burgers. Thick, juicy ground beef is served on seeded buns with your choice of toppings. Hotdogs and chicken sandwiches offer a little variety, but the hands-down winner is the Checkers Burger, an enormous beef patty on a huge bun. Wash down your burger with a thick, rich milkshake. On a warm day, you can almost hear these cool treats call your name.
Pepperfire Spiced Chicken adds spicy hot flavor to the Inglewood/East Nashville restaurant scene. Cooked to order, Pepperfire tries their best to please every customer with moist, spicy and delicious hot chicken just the way they want it. Open on Sundays and Mondays, Pepperfire is beating out the two most popular Nashville hot chicken joints, which are traditionally closed on those days. Service at Pepperfire is excellent and the wait time is worth the cooked-to-order nature of the meal. If you like hot chicken, you might want to order extra hot at Pepperfire. Watanabe Sushi & Asian Cuisine truly is an Asian restaurant. Rather than being merely Asian-Fusion, the menu at Watanabe actually includes a variety of specialties pulled straight from Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Korean cuisine. The décor is dark and mysterious with light from the flickering paper lamps adding to the mood. The food is fantastic. Starters like vegetable gyoza and shrimp tempura are a perfect match for delicious entrees such as Korean Bibim Bab, Pad Thai and Japanese Pork Yaki Soba. Head Chef Hide Watanabe is a top-notch addition to the Nashville food scene. -Lynn-nore Chittom
