Named after a champion racehorse, The Cabana is like a phoenix who rises from the ashes. A top notch music venue for touring bands between the 1970s to the 1990s, it gave its curtain call in 1997. But a few fans of this place decided to re-open it a few years and it has since been soaring the popularity charts. This all genre musical mecca, has not only got local bands but soloists, songwriters and more performing live here. Some of their previous line ups are The Datsuns, The Acropolis, Alec Withers and Lisa Crawley.
McLean Park is named for Sir Donald McLean, a prominent member of Parliament in Hawke’s Bay in the 1800s. McLean Park hosts both Rugby and cricket. Recent renovations have given the stadium better lighting, grandstands, and even a corporate entertainment complex.
