"The cornerstone of history and culture for Barre, Vermont," this century-old theater is central Vermont's premier performing arts facility. The Barre Opera House is host to 70-100 events each year. These include local theater productions, internationally renowned musicians and dancers, the Celebration Series, a performance series that runs from September to May and features some of today's finest performers.
The Paramount Theatre offers two movie screens.
The Thunder Road International SpeedBowl is nestled in Barre, Vermont. This speedway is jointly owned by Ken Squier and Tom Curley. This track hosts several races like NASCAR, Milk Bowl to name a few. For event updates, check website.
Unlike the closely-located Kreitzberg Arena, which is dedicated only to the game of ice hockey, the Shapiro Field House is much more flexible as it features multiple sports infrastructure facilities like a 200 meter running track, a climbing wall and multiple tennis courts. Named for the former student and trustee of the university Jacob Shapiro, the arena sees a large number of student athletes practicing on the running tracks and the courts every morning. Apart from hosting sports events and Graduation ceremonies of the University, the venue also allows scheduling of performances by local and national music artists/ bands. Call ahead to know more.
