Located in Waitsfield, Mad River Glen is a ski area within the Green Mountain Range. Founded in 1948, it has been dubbed the most challenging terrain on the east coast of United States by SKI magazine. Apart from it's 45 trails of varying degrees of difficulties, there is also scope for wood skiing though snowboarding is banned in this area. It is renowned for one of the only two ski areas in the United States to have a single chairlift. A mid-sized skiing area in northern Vermont, it was founded in the year 1966 and is currently owned by the locals. It has 71 trails with quads, doubles and surface lift facilities. They offer skiing and snowboarding equipment and lessons. They have Nordic skiing and night skiing facilities. It is close to two other ski areas - the Mad River Glen and Jay Peak.
