A theater that has been a part of Hillsdale's cultural landscape since 1919, the Dawn Theater is a landmark structure. Starting its history as a cinema house and vaudeville venue, the theater presented silent films, Hollywood blockbusters, and more. Though it was abandoned and neglected in the early years of the 21st Century, the theater has been resurrected to resume its role of being a provider of entertainment and culturally enriching events. The whole family can enjoy NASCAR style racing at this fun and exciting speedway with races beginning at 7:30 p.m. on race nights, which vary. The gates open at 2:00 p.m.
T. Furth Center for Performing Arts is set in the old First Christian Church that was built in 1910. This beautifully renovated Greek Revival brick building is a part of the Trine University and is an esteemed venue for performing arts in town. Get set to be welcomed by the marble sculptures of Shakespeare and Handel at the entrance and check out the 23 marble pieces throughout the structure with detailed descriptions. The main level has musical objects while the lower one has a theatrical theme to it. The beautiful lobby with its fountain, chandeliers and wall scones will enchant you. This facility features avant-garde and plush Ryan Concert Hall, a concert balcony, rehearsal hall, dressing rooms and a music library.
