The Outer Space is an art deco-inspired club, bar and music venue in Hamden, just outside of New Haven. It's a great place to kick back and chill out with friends while drinking a local brew. There's live music, open mic nights and plenty of events throughout the week.
Unassuming from the outside but warm and inviting on the inside, J.P Dempsey's is a neighborhood favorite known for piling on the food. The kitchen, although amazingly small, whips up dozens of dishes and daily specials, from appetizers and sandwiches to steaks and pastas. Make sure you don't forget to throw your peanut shells on the floor; it's de rigueur here! When the weather is nice, there is a small patio out in front that serves as a great place to watch the neighborhood go by.
What do the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, U-2, The Kinks and Bob Dylan have in common? They have all played at this legendary hot spot, along with almost every other road show. For almost 30 years, this place has been hopping (pun intended) with an incredible lineup of live music and a dance party that just won't quit. It has been voted nightclub of the year several times, so consider a trip to Toad's to partake in music history, not to mention a good time.
Pizza was founded in New Haven, and the famous pizzerias still serve up the best around, but even with heavy duty competition from all the others, Est Est Est holds its own. So, try a slice here almost around the clock, and you won't be disappointed, especially if you order another Italian specialty with your pie. Enjoy outdoor seating in summer, as it's perfect place for people watching. They also offer free delivery, and catering is available.
This converted garage turned hip bar, microbrewery and dance club has upscale recreation room written all over it. Cowhide couches, soft, beaten-up sofas and a pool table all suggest that you relax and hang out with friends for a few drinks and noshes. Grab the renowned, paper-thin brick oven pizza, or cool, contemporary dishes next door at the connected Brü Rm, where second story eating offers views of New Haven street life. Huge copper vats of beer is on display and live music, DJs, dancing and wild nights sprinkle the calendar.
Elevate Lounge and Alchemy Nightclub together make up the largest nightclub in New Haven. The three large rooms have dance floors, custom LED lighting and bars, the perfect combination for a great nightclub. The club often hosts guest DJs to host special theme parties and events, and often offer drink specials.
If you are looking for a club to party at after bar-hopping in New Haven, head to Afterlife. This thriving hot spot has become a favorite among the late-night revelers who enjoy the EDM, house and trance music played by the DJs. The club always has DJs like Ac Slater, Harvard Bass and Flinch to entertain the crowd.
OK, so it's not in the most popular section of New Haven, on a corner off on its own. But despite appearances, this is an outstanding spot for hearing live bands and performers. During the week it showcases a diverse selection of music and talent, and on the weekends you can listen to well known bands or outstanding jazz and blues players jam.
This resto-bar has been going strong for 30 years in neighboring Branford. It continues to be packed every night of the week for the Mexican-American specialties served in enormous portions at reasonable prices. The decor includes authentic Mexican ceramics, artwork, artifacts and soothing lighting, all of which help to create a warm and intimate atmosphere. On some nights a guitarist plays softly in the background. If you do not feel like Enchiladas, "gringo" food is available on the extensive menu. Great bar, great margaritas. Su Casa is available for parties; patio open in warm weather.
