    September 20, 2014 10:00 AM

A patch of land in rural Oakland County is turned every year into a rambunctious medieval kingdom during the Michigan Renaissance Festival. The festival extends for seven weekends from mid- to late-August through September. Visitors enter into a recreated 16th century world, where you dine on turkey legs; watch a king and queen rule over live jousting events; and watch jugglers, puppeteers, motley fools and musicians perform on stage and fend off comedians doing impromptu skits. Plenty of crafts, games and food are available, and many visitors dress in period costumes.

    »Rob Zombie

    September 27, 2014

Despite recently dabbling in the world of film directing, Rob Zombie (born Robert Bartleh Cummings) still has deep connections to the music world. His distinct style of heavy metal rose him to prominence in the late 1990s after he broke from New York based heavy metal group White Zombie in 1998. And though it's more frequent to see the musician behind the camera, directing films like the Halloween remake or House of 1,000 Corpses,Zombie still makes occasional musical appearances and rocks out just as hard as he ever did.
