The Marquette Mountain ski area, originally called, Cliffs Ridge, was established in 1964. Recognized for its winter sports, it is a popular destination among skiing and snow boarding enthusiasts. This place is also known to offer many summer time outdoor activities including mountain biking. Marquette Mountain is featured on the National Register of Historic Places.
The proud maritime heritage of the Upper Peninsula is completely captured in this museum that, in some ways, almost comes across as a shrine to a by-gone era. Boats of every kind including steam barges, Mackinacs, fishing tugs, and canoes used by pioneer fur trappers, are all presented in wonderful detail. There are also loads of displays and exhibits crammed with maritime hardware such as ship's wheels, propellers and anchors. The tour through the museum is all self-guided. Timings for some days may vary, please call ahead.
"Upper Michigan's only 36-hole facility," Marquette Golf Club opened as a semi-private club in 1926, which expanded to include the Heritage and Marquette Golf Club's nationally-ranked addition, the Mike DeVries-designed Greywalls. A full-service restaurant and bar open to the public, full-service golf shop, and more can be enjoyed at Marquette Golf Club.
