When form meets function, art ascends to a whole new plane. Such is the philosophy behind the abstract offerings at the Artisan Resource Center. The art here consists not of your normal gallery fare, but of pieces that challenge traditional boundaries. Just north of the city in suburban Marietta, this fascinating art complex features works that will brighten your home while enlivening conversation. It features 27 studios that is home to talented artisans from various fields such as sculpture, painting, jewelry and more. The work of many creative local minds is yours for the asking, all within easy reach at the Artisan Resource Center.
This diminutive gallery is located on the second floor of a vintage office building, just down the street from the historic village square. Fronted by an impressive 12-foot (3.6-meter) door of oak and iron and topped by a large round window at the crest, the curbside entrance is one of the more distinctive elements to the place. Upstairs, you'll find a competent collection of nice pieces by area artists, some of which are for sale.
Providing a unique look at firefighting techniques and equipment from as far back as the late 1800s, this museum showcases and exhibits antique fire engines and firefighting equipment with the highlight of the collection being the 1880s era Silsby Steamer named

Housed in a 1908 National Historic Landmark building, the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art showcases major exhibitions of international stature. While you're in the neighborhood, check out the historic Marietta Square just two blocks away, a prototypical Southern town square, complete with a county courthouse.
This neat concept is housed in a brightly painted brick building across from the Marietta Museum of Art, just in case the work of area artists should inspire you. The history of Marietta is forever intertwined with that of Atlanta, and is in its full, perpetual glory just 15 minutes north of downtown. Located on the second floor of the historic Kennesaw House in downtown Marietta, the museum features relics from the Civil War, historic artifacts, and a parade of furniture that dates back to the first settlers of the area. The Kennesaw House was built early in the 19th Century as a hotel, and served as headquarters for General Sherman during his unappreciated visit to the area in 1864.
Housed in a Victorian home located off Marietta's square, The Marlow House Gallery is The Marlow House's gallery featuring Thomas Kinkade art and other collectibles.
A wonderful collection of Gone with the Wind movie and book memorabilia, including original costumes, scripts, books, movies posters, and photographs are displayed at this museum with highlights including the original Bengaline honeymoon gown worn by Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara in the film, several of Margaret Mitchell's personal volumes of the novel, and an educational display dedicated to the African American cast members.
