This beautiful structure is a historic residential building located in downtown Columbia. It was built between 1890–1900 and has a mixture of architectural styles. The house belonged to Modjeska Monteith Simkins, who played a crucial role in the Civil Rights Movement. She stayed here from the 1930's untill her death. The house does not have any tours that could let you peep into the activists's life, but it available for visits and group meetings. A reservation has to be done prior to your visit.
