»City of Rocks State Park

City of Rocks State Park gets its name from the monolithic rocks that dot the region. Believed to have formed because of volcanic activity millions of years ago, the characteristics of these rocks are extremely rare on the planet. These and the native topography of the region give the area a unique landscape, which is of great interest to nature and photography enthusiasts. Another popular attraction at the park is the astronomical observatory, established here due to the perennially clear skies, the region is blessed with. There are plenty of hiking trails as well as camping facilities at the park. Call ahead for more information.
