The Stephen C. O'Connell Center brings people together through a volley of different recreational activities that include swimming, dance, gymnastics, martial arts and much more. University of Florida students, faculty, staff and their spouses can access this center. Guided tours of the center are also available, provided reservations are made in advance.
Experience a taste of country living at the charming Morningside Living History Farm in Gainesville. It is located about a 90-minute drive southwest of Jacksonville and features guides dressed in period costumes to show you what went on in a typical day on a turn-of-the-century plantation. Special events are held each Saturday, so you can learn hands-on how to make soap, syrup, applesauce, candles, quilts and cloth. Kids can interact with farm animals, and parents can browse a quaint gift shop. Handmade biscuits and cornbread with fresh butter and cane syrup are served after a long days work.
The Dudley Farm is located in Newberry, Florida. It is also known as the Dudley Farm Historic State Park. The park is spread over 325 acres (131 hectares), and comprises of several historic buildings, the farmhouse with original interiors, a general store and post office. It was listed on National Register of Historic Places on October 4, 2002.
