Daniel Chester French, best known as sculptor of Abraham Lincoln in Washington's Lincoln Memorial and the Minute Man statue, lived and worked in Western Massachusetts from May to October. In the winter months, he and his studio up and moved to New York City. The house is situated on 122 acres (50 hectares) of beautiful in a small town outside of Stockbridge called Glendale. This residence is a National Trust for Historic Preservation site and open to the public from August to October.
