    1208 Route 146
    Clifton Park, NY 12065
John Valby is a comedian and musician who has developed the nickname Dr. Dirty on the small stages of barrooms and college campuses along the East Coast. With an old-fashioned piano and unabashed dirty sense of humor, he offers obscene versions of classic songs that are made all the more ridiculous by his outfit of choice--white tailcoats and a black derby hat.

Beginning her career as a folk musician while still a student at Brown University, Erin McKeown has earned a huge following as a result of her tours in and around New England. Since then, her style has become a bit harder to pinpoint as one can hear elements of pop, rock, electronic, jazz and, of course, folk music in her ever-growing songbook. McKeown has released numerous albums since the beginning of her career and continues to tour successfully with such like-minded artists as the Indigo Girls, Josh Ritter and the Ani DiFranco.

    Clifton Park, NY 12065
Mayday Parade is an emo-tinged pop/rock band from Tallahassee, Florida. Like many bands of its ilk, Mayday Parade attempts to combine post punk energy and punk rock tempos with sensitive, emotive songwriting and slick, pop-influenced production. Big, anthemic choruses driven by distorted electric guitars and propulsive drumming is a regular formula, and one that has won the band legions of young, angsty teen fans all over the country. Mayday Parade formed in 2006 and was soon discovered by popular pop punk label, Fearless Records, before ultimately signing to Atlantic in 2009. With its new major label backing, the band has increased its notoriety amongst emo pop and alt rock circles, landing tours with The Academy Is... and slots at the Vans Warped Tour.

Under the name Oddball, the band released its debut album Shutterbug, in 1995 before revamping its lineup and changing its name to Thousand Foot Krutch. The three-piece band dropped its first official album as TFK, titled That's What People Do, in 1997. Despite the seemingly revolving cast around original vocalist and guitarist Trevor McNevan, the band found a solid lineup in 2002, after drummer Steve Augustine joined McNevan and bassist Joel Bruyere. Thousand Foot Krutch released its seventh studio album The End Is Where We Begin, in 2012.

    Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn
    Paramount Theatre - VTOctober 23, 2014 8:00 PM
    36 Center Street
    Rutland, VT 05701
Abigail Washburn is a claw hammer banjo player from Illinois--claw hammer is the term used to describe banjo players who use a down-picking motion to play instead of the standard way of rolling the fingers up along the strings. Song of the Travelling Daughter, her 2005 debut, was produced by Bela Fleck, who she later formed the band Sparrow Quartet with. Her smoky voice lends itself well to her folk songs, especially when she holds out her delicate legato notes, allowing the listener to hear the voice fade into a whisper.
