Built in 1859, the Kalamazoo State Hospital Water Tower is situated on the grounds of Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital. The tower stands high in historic significance and was structured by B. F. Stratton from Detroit. It is 175 feet (53 meters) tall and roughly 50 feet (15 meters) wide at its widest end. Its height makes it visible from any part of the city. There have been apprehensions as to the fact that it was a cell where mental patients were treated. On the whole, the exclusive tower with its distinct construction needs a visit.
