    »SOL

Upon entering SOL, the first thing you notice is that it is a very, very big club. Some of that feeling may arise from the high ceilings and the sky roof, but still, SOL is, in fact, big. 700 people can cram within its gaudy walls to listen and dance to a mix of house, hip-hop, and Latin music pulsing out of towering speakers. People who come to SOL tend to be of a younger, exhibitionist set that matches well with the technicolor lighting and décor that's more reminiscent of Miami Beach than of the drab shores of the Hudson. It's all pretty tacky, but that's alright every once and a while.

    »Suzie Wong's

Located in the center of the Nightclub District, Suzie Wong's is a good addition to the already bustling nightlife scene in New York. This 4,000 sq.ft. space is dripping with sensual ambiance and character. Oriental touches dominate the interiors with warm colored brocades, ethnic lanterns and Buddha sculptures. The crowd is typical of Manhattan, making it a good place to socialize over a drink. The music is great, with a mix of pop, rock and 80s classics. Drinks can get a bit pricey, which is common in New York and the DJ makes sure you dance all night long by spinning the latest hits on the system.

    »The Eagle

The Eagle is a dream come true for the LGBT community with funky DJs playing cool music and hunky barmen doling out drinks. It is a leather bar and is highly acclaimed as one of the best in New York city. The ambience is comfortable and friendly, with really hot men (gay mostly) getting high on the cold beverages. The venue also boasts a rooftop bar called The Rooftop Deck that is great in summer. There are pool tables too for those in the mood for some fun. Beer is available, along with hamburgers and fries. Cigar events take place regularly. Payment can be done through cash only.

    »The Park

If you want to take your taste buds on a sumptuous Mediterranean ride, just remember, the Park is not that far away. Apart from the lovely fare served here, there's plenty to appreciate when it comes to décor at The Park. While the rain forest themed dining room pervades a strange dash of freshness all around, the Red Room and the Atrium impart a sensual feel to the place. Once you visit the Park, you will certainly deem it an excellent party or event place. The bar is open even after dinner service ends.

    »Hogs & Heifers

New York City can be a very strange place indeed. How else do you explain a Southern dive bar that catered to Meatpacking District truck drivers being transformed into a celebrity infested hot spot? The likes of Julia Roberts and Dennis Quaid may not be dancing on the bar anymore, but there are plenty of young downtowners; and Bridge and Tunnelers from New Jersey still that come here.

    »Tenjune

Tenjune is a high energy ultra lounge which focuses on luxury, customer satisfaction and snazzy appeal. The space houses three areas, all different in ambiance and scope. Next to the dance space is the semi-private zone, inviting in its royal purple hues. A large white marble fireplace, cushy carpets and loose furniture for flexible seating are some of the highlights of this zone. Tenjune also caters for private dinners and corporate buffets.

    »Cielo

Cielo strips the nightclub experience down to its basic elements: music and dancing. This is not to say that there's no alcohol or difficult door; as you can still find both a full bar and a long line at Cielo. What you won't see are any exclusive V.I.P. areas, much sitting room, or a lot of glitzy decor. In fact, the space is downright minimalistic, with just a bar, a couple of couches, and a dance floor. Still, Cielo does more with what they have than most other clubs do with a whole lot more. The walls are bare, save for bars of light that give the edges of the club a glow like in a furnace, while the central recessed dance floor is lit in a cool, dark blue. Then there is the phenomenal sound system which no one, no matter how big an audio nerd, could find fault with. There's no smoking inside, but smokers don't need to fear having to deal with the door again in order to get their fix - the club has a smoking patio. A music-lover's club, Cielo is only for those who want to dance the night away in style, no conversation needed.
