    »Savoy

    September 24, 2014 9:00 PM

Boulder, Colorado is an interesting place. It's home to Colorado University at Boulder and the constant flux of students and young folk permeating the town causes some interesting cultural dynamics. The fact that the university is extremely expensive for out of state students helps bolster the town's standing as an ideal place for young people with money to spend their time. Juvenile adults who are given sufficient funds by their parents typically like to spend a lot of time partying. This is why an electronic producer like Savoy has become so popular in his native Boulder. Playing an extremely insightful style of dance-friendly electronic music has distinguished Savoy from the other rag-tag cast of electronic musicians in Colorado and if Savoy continues to inspire awe at his live shows, he'll no doubt go on to receive more and more popularity amongst those who like to party and get lost in electronic grooves.

    »Corey Smith

    September 25, 2014 8:30 PM

Corey Smith is a singer/songwriter and guitarist who grew up in Jefferson, a small town in Georgia. For much of his adolescence, Smith was discontent with his small town roots, admitting later that he often dreamed of leaving Jefferson. After one semester abroad, he found that his heart remained in Georgia and returned home to attend the University of West Georgia and then the University of Georgia, where his longtime girlfriend and now wife attended. During school, he developed a reputation for playing his guitar everywhere and anywhere, often spotted with the instrument at parties and bars. His debut album Undertones, released in 2003, features one of his most requested songs, "Twenty One." Smith gained a solid fan base with his alcohol and party-driven lyrics as well as his folk rock/country blues sound, a brand of music that he continued throughout his following albums including his 2011 effort, The Broken Record.

    »Dale Watson

    September 25, 2014 7:00 PM

A connoisseur of traditional honky-tonk, Dale Watson is proof that the spirit of country music's forefathers hasn't been entirely lost to the worlds of arena tours and country pop radio. Watson cites Hank Williams, George Jones and the stoic baritone of Johnny Cash as his influences, which clearly comes through in each of his records. Regular performances on the Grand Ole Opry are pretty much the height of Watson's commercial exposure, as the musician much prefers small, intimate bars in places like his hometown of Austin, Texas to bigger venues. He has, however, managed to tour Europe on a couple of occasions, winning over fans of his no-nonsense, purist approach to the genre along the way.

    »Roots N Blues N BBQ

    September 26, 2014 5:00 PM

Old-timey folk music is typically absent from the mainstream's musical lexicon. It's a strange style of music that harkens back to a simpler times when people weren't connected and intertwined by technology. The lack of folk music has almost created a need for the genre, though, and this is partly why The Avett Brothers have found success. They're one of the few folk bands around that has brought back nostalgic instrumentation and simple songs that are easy to like. The band, from Concord, North Carolina, does, however, incorporate modern influences into its songs to add a bit more relevance to the music and make it sound like folk music that's clearly from the 21st century.

»The Fab Four - The Ultimate Tribute

    September 26, 2014 7:00 PM

The Beatles were one of the most influential bands that ever existed. The Fab Four, one of America's premiere Beatles tribute bands that started by playing gigs at Disneyland theme parks and has since moved on to become a touring entity. The Fab Four not only do covers, they also recreate classic Christmas songs as if the Beatles circa "Help" were performing them. This is one troupe that prefers the mop tops over the later-day era of the Beatles.
