The Evansville Icemen is a minor league hockey team based in Evansville, Indiana that was founded in 1992. The team won its first championship in 1999 as Michigan's Muskegon Fury in the United Hockey League, later known International Hockey League in 2007. Competing in the North division of the Eastern Conference Hockey League, The Evansville Icemen adopted its named in 2010.
The Evansville Purple Aces represents the athletic programs and
intercollegiate teams of the University of Evansville in Indiana. After spending years under Division II classification, the school joined the Division I ranks in 1977, where it competes in the Missouri Valley and Mid-American conferences. Evansville fields a number of men's and women's teams in sports such as baseball, golf, cross country, soccer and diving. Its most notable achievements over the years, however, has come via its men's basketball team, which has won a number of Division II titles in addition to making several NCAA March Madness tournament appearances.
