A National and Michigan Historic Site open from mid-May through mid-October, the Cornish Pump is the largest steam-driven pumping engine built in the United States. A large collection of mining equipment, an authentic World War II CG-4A Glider fuselage and a gift shop can also be enjoyed by visitors.
Crystal Falls is home to what they claim is the world's largest organism. Popularly called the Humungus Fungus, which has been around for more than a thousand years, it is spread over 38 acres (15.37 hectares) of wooded area. Although most of it lays underground and only a part of the fungus called Armillaria Bulbosa can be seen, the growth is said to measure somewhere around 100 tons! The sight has also inspired the annual Humungus Fungus Fest which draws a lot of tourists to Crystal Falls.
