    »93.5 Kday Presents Komedy Xxplosion

    July 25, 2014 8:00 PM

Stand-up comedian Mike Epps has made a name for himself by pushing the envelope any way he possibly can. His style of humor is always irreverent and oftentimes focuses on race or drugs. After putting in a number of years as an amateur stand-up comedian in Atlanta, Epps moved to New York City and jump-started his career in 1995 by joining the Def Comedy Jam Tour with his distinct fearless style. Opportunities in film, on television and to record his own music began to come his way, and while he has branched out to other forms of media, Epps stayed true to his stand-up comedy roots and continues to make fans across the country laugh out loud.

    »Sordid Lives

    July 25, 2014 8:00 PM

Del Shores, the author of "Daddy's Dyin' (Who's Got the Will?)", also wrote this hilarious "black comedy about white trash," that was nominated for more than 30 awards during its long run in L.A. "Sordid Lives" puts a comedic twist on a story of unconditional love, acceptance and "coming out" in a colorful small-town Texas family, as they all converge for the matriarch's funeral -- after she just happens to die in the arms of a much younger, married neighbor.

    »A Midsummer Night's Dream

    July 25, 2014 8:00 PM

Tim Robbins directs this Actors' Gang workshop of Shakespeare's magical comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream", adding original music and minimal costumes, props and scenery. This whimsical story of romance, mischief and magic follows four young lovers into the woods on a midsummer's night as they become the unwitting victims in a lover's quarrel between the king and queen of the faeries. When a group of local folk rehearsing a play in the forest also gets caught up in the madness, the comical snarl of spells seems impossible to sort out. But with fairies and sprites all around, it just takes a little more magic and, as Puck puts it, "all is mended."

    »The Spazmatics

    July 25, 2014 9:00 PM

Originally conceived in 1983 by physics professor Kevin Stigwoodt, The Spazmatics was born when Stigwood lost a bet and had to perform "She Blinded Me With Science" at halftime of his school's state championship basketball game. He enlisted the help of electronics teacher Sydney Balderman, his brother Curtis Stigwood and a TA named Rusty A. Woosmeir. The group stunned the student body with its spot on production, musicianship and choreography, earning a standing ovation. The makeshift band was approached by producers from Perfect World Entertainment to create a proper production that would go on to become a nation-wide celebration of the best and worst of 1980's music and fashion. Now pegged as The Ultimate New Wave 1980s Show, versions of The Spazmatics have popped up all across the US in major cities including Chicago, Houston and Austin, TX while the original Los Angeles-based group continues to perform weekly gigs at Zanzibar in Santa Monica while also rotating around to various clubs around the area.
