This 2,083-acre park lies in the piney woods of the Sam Houston National Forest and includes Lake Raven. The park offers camping, hiking, biking, boating (Boats must be less than 19 feet long; speed is limited to idle speed) , horseback riding, fishing, swimming in unsupervised swimming area, boat & Hydrobike rentals, and nature study.
Oakwood Cemetery is the final resting place of Sam Houston, other Texas citizens, and Union soldiers. Houston's tomb bears Andrew Jackson's tribute, "The world will take care of Houston's fame." The oldest marked site dates back to 1846. The Chamber of Commerce may be reached for walking tours.
